People don't make that much in Baltimore and the earnings potential is diddly.

That's a typical misconception. I guess that's why when Alex Brown was taken over by the Germans and they wanted to move the trading desk to NYC half the desk walked over to First Union. I have friends and clients who work for T.Rowe Price, Legg Mason and Alex Brown who make as much as their NYC counterparts and I can tell you half a million to a million in salary plus bonus buys a whole lot more here than it does there. How many boats can you ski behind?

The friends I have that make the same salary I've made for years that live in NYC have nothing to show for it. I live in paradise. You couldn't convince them to move, after you go through that kind of pain, you need to be convinced that it wasn't all for nothing even if the only person you are fooling is yourself.
