Both. But what I am searching for is reliable <patterns> that I can use to make a trading profit. Right now - it looks to me that the US data is important for trading the SP, so I want to include it into my strategy. Going long the SP every morning and selling at the close every day since 1998 would have lost $75 per day ($30 for slippage and fees). But if you only went long after the US made a HH, then you would have made $240 per trade. If you only went long after the US made 2 consecutive HH, then you would have made $485 per trade.
