Ciena signs pact to make optical switch in China HONG KONG, Feb 20 (Reuters) - U.S. fibre optic network equipment maker Ciena Corporation (NasdaqNM:CIEN - news) said on Wednesday it has agreed to collaborate with Sino-U.S. joint venture CEC-IDN Telecom Ltd to make optical switch products in China. No financial terms were disclosed. CEC-IDN is a joint venture between one of China's largest electronics companies, China Electronics Corp, and unlisted California-based IDN Telecom Inc. Ciena and CEC-IDN, which provides network products to Chinese firms, have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly make Ciena's optical switch products -- CoreDirector and MetroDirector K2 -- in China, Ciena said in a statement.
