SANTA ANA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 20, 2002--Starbase Corp. (Nasdaq:SBAS), the leading provider of end-to-end collaborative products for the development and management of code and content for enterprise and e-business applications, today announced general availability of CaliberRM 4.0, the collaborative requirements management system, featuring a new Software Development Kit (SDK) that facilitates integrations between external applications and CaliberRM.

By utilizing CaliberRM to define and manage application requirements, organizations can increase control over their application development processes, resulting in reduced development costs and higher quality applications.

``CaliberRM is our tool of choice for requirements management,'' stated Jim Graff, engineering operations manager for Square D Co. -- Power Management Operations. ``Its use in documenting and tracing our product specific requirements has simplified our development process and ensures that our products meet customer needs.

``CaliberRM is the central focal point for product definition used by all the various disciplines involved in our multi-functional team development environment. The SDK included with CaliberRM 4.0 will give us further flexibility by allowing us to integrate requirements management into other third party software products.''

``Our research indicates that upwards of 65% of software quality problems can be traced back to requirement errors,'' stated Jim Azar, vice president, Caliber Division of Starbase. ``By enabling requirements visibility and traceability across the entire application development lifecycle, organizations are able to significantly reduce these errors.

``CaliberRM 4.0, with the new SDK, enables customers to use the third party software development tools of their choice to achieve an extended level of traceability from requirements definition to design, coding, testing and application deployment.

``The extensive integration and customization capabilities provided by 4.0 enable our customers to achieve a requirements management solution that integrates with their existing development tools and allows them to tailor these tools to meet their specific business needs.''

CaliberRM 4.0's open, customizable platform allows development teams to develop quality systems using a requirements-driven development approach. Now, integration with third party or homegrown tools can easily be accomplished through the SDK. The SDK supports Java and Microsoft Component Object Model (COM) environments.

CaliberRM is part of the Starbase Collaboration Suite, an integrated suite of products focused on increasing control of the development process to achieve greater development efficiency and application quality.
