. I have friends and clients who work for T.Rowe Price, Legg Mason and Alex Brown who make as much as their NYC counterparts and I can tell you half a million to a million in salary plus bonus buys a whole lot more here than it does there. How many boats can you ski behind?

How many people as a % of Baltimore's working class actually work in those types of positions? Using your friends is the great fallacy of comparative discourse.

Second of all, there are more mutual funds than listed stocks so don't expect that industry to thrive in the coming 20 years. I am sure T Rowe is closing funds as we speak.

The friends I have that make the same salary I've made for years that live in NYC have nothing to show for it. I live in paradise.

Funny, the friends I have make much more in NYC than they do in places like Dallas or LA. I more than doubled my compensation moving out here from the West Coast in 1998. I now save more than I used to make in one month.

Paradise is Aruba. Paradise is Key West. Paradise is Fiji.

Paradise is neither New York City nor Baltimore, I can assure you of that.
