8:15AM Semi equip book/bill ratio ticks up, but orders weak : Brokerage firm comments on the semi equipment book/bill ratio released last night are mixed but generally cautious; the ratio rose to 0.81 from 0.77 but this was due primarily to lower billings -- orders rose only slightly. CSFB says the report is more negative than positive and notes that the magnitude of recovery should matter more than direction now, but SG Cowen says that the significant increase in back-end orders is a potential leading indicator for the industry.
