Re: CPQ SSG. Zoning for SSG's get a little tricky this time of year. Usually in July or August I add a new year, to make the SSG more forward looking.

I've been doing this since reading an article by Peter Lynch called the "July effect". He says stock prices start rising in the summer as investors start "paying" for 1998 earnings. I've seen similar comments from Abby Cohen, who said that the 2nd half of '97 will be determined by how much investors collectively are willing to pay for '98 earnings.

Adding a year at this time will move a stock back into the buy range from the hold range.

I would be interested in your results when you get them too, and I will share my SSG with you. You can do it here or e-mail it to me.
