The following from your post is quite interesting. AMAT and KLAC are "giants" in the semi-equip sector. Both claim to be gaining in market share. Assuming this is true, it will put pressure on many of the smaller companies in the group.

9:29AM Applied Materials says they are taking share (AMAT) 45.80: During their CSFB technology conference presentation, AMAT's CFO says that they expect growth in 2H02 over 1H, and that the co is taking share in virtually every product category, particularly in metrology and inspection (albeit from a small base, but watch competitor KLAC and other metrology co's for a possible reaction to this news).>>
