Hi, Laz. Actually, I'm not pissed at all. I'm just distressed to see people whom I consider to be friends getting into a ruckus. I like Chris, I like you, I like JLA. I like Poet, too, and I lament that she and and I lost a friendship over issues, before this particular squabble started. I stayed out of this because I didn't want to take sides against anyone involved. I will (gulp) say however, that I am generally against agreements that try to regulate posting behavior. I hold that position because I believe that on public threads no one can ask for protection against postings that they deem distasteful but which do not (to a reasonable person) violate the bounds of SI Terms of Use. I kind of see it as a "freedom of speech" issue. I have put up with a ton of insulting crap from "Solon," but I defend his right to say what he wants on an open forum like this. (BTW, where has he gone?) I thought the recent post by Mr. Horn was way out of line, and that it was handled properly by being turned over to the SI Admin. for deletion.
We all differ as to how thick or thin our skins are in the arena of verbal combat, but I don't believe anyone can expect or ask to be treated with special kid gloves.
