Tumult at 'Today'
Katie irked by new boss

atie Couric's new $65 million contract isn't buying her happiness.

Katie Couric
Even though the queen of morning TV has been all smiles broadcasting the "Today" show from the Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, she's reportedly been griping off-camera about her new boss.

Sources said she's concerned about the direction of the top-rated show under former "NBC Nightly News" chief Jonathan Wald. In a candid exchange broadcast on WNBC yesterday, the normally perky Couric revealed how fed up she was.

"I'm tired, the hours are brutal," she said. "It's hard to make yourself go to bed at 7:30 or 8 to get up" in time for the show. Couric's sidekick, Matt Lauer, also is said to be miffed.

"Katie and Matt are in [NBC News president] Neal Shapiro's office daily," a "Today" insider said. "The 'Today' show foundation is being rocked."
