Very interesting Jay. Can someone point me to Howard Bubb's quoted vision? Lets hope it places Dialogic "smack" in the middle.

There is a good, possibly promising thread on SI..."Communications Revolution..How do you play it?" I posted the following message there last week and hope it adds to the theories spreading. Added new life to "HDSL" by mergeing fiber optics into copper instead of obsoleting it. It's fantastic technology for Dialogic.

This is the post in answer to another on the "Comm...." thread.

Thankyou...I think your right on target. Bill Gates seed's it...other pieces fall into place.
Or should begin to, at least. This will all be a painstakingly long process that many
companies will fail to as a result of the onslaught of competitors. The gains and losses
will not be limited to the companies as the individual investor plays big parts in driving
the market these days. That subject should probably be discussed on another day.

Your question about the cable companies...the CLEC's. Competitive Local Exchange
Characters are inking deals with the big Telco's on a global level. There are three
CLECS that I follow closely and one of them I plan to invest after completion of my
studies. Brooks Fiber Properties Inc., aka, Brooks Fiber Optics. This company and
others are the company(s) adapting copper lines to fiber optics. It's a long story and I
hope that any interested will research the CLEC's in contract with the RBOC's,
Regional Bell Operating Companies.

Fiber Optics is here, its now and companies like Pairgain, ADC Technologies, and
Level One have set in place the technology that adapts the fiber optic mainline to the
copper infrastructure. In home and office environments are adaptable to higher
bandwidth with the copper that is in place now. The technology includes a adapter fed
from(the transmitter) or to copper lines and is not a upgrade to fiber optics, only. The
hardware attached to the recieving and transmitting ends is a tremendous increase in
bandwidth without having to implement expensive hardware at each end. As this
technolgy is adapted and proven along with adoption into the I.E.E.E.
specification....the CLEC's are in a great position as they not only set the adapters in
place but also drop the fiber optic inline at each end too.

Please note I have left out lots of acronyms and techno-babble. The following link
covers the Telco's and the Clecs. Some of the technology is discussed.
barrons.com

What is missing is the software, Intel...Wintel and how that name will probably be as
commonplace as "car" and "boat" five years down the road.

PS: I always keep in mind that the Telco's, fiber optic, HDTV, ISDN, X2, bla, bla,
bla......are all stepping stones in the technological digital revolution before us. Leading
to the ultimate in telecommunications, names like Iridium, Concert and Teledesic are
here Insofar as operation-ability now... thats here too but premature in the
telecommunications infrastructure and marketing plan. That story might be better
spoken of on another day, thread or plateau, respectively.

I sure hope that when those technologies are in use society has learned to slow it down
and enjoy what we have done in 75 years.
If Alexander Graham Bell had only known.

Best Wishes to all.
