Perhaps we should salute those legions of people with no real opinions. Thank you, thank you. I knew there was a place for me somewhere. On another thread there was a discussion of certain political activities being more frivolous than others... and all I could think was, "oh for heaven's sake. It's ALL frivolous, isn't it, really? What does any one of us do that really effects anything?" (note considered use of 'effect' rather than 'affect'- this was NOT an error) But people need to care about something-- and we can't all care about the same thing, any more than we can all fall in love with the same person, or all like spinach. There are so many things to care about, to decide that one person's motivating concern is frivolous compared to yours, well, it irked me a lot. Personally I think spending ten hours a day on SI is frivolous, but who cares.
I think reducing every event in life to a number is the strangest thing I ever saw, and frivolous to boot as it accomplishes nothing that I can see, but so?
I think I am off the scale frivolous writing about things like what my kids want for dinner, but so what.
Anyway, that is my rant for the day, based totally on my opinion, which is flexible, mutable, baseless, and given without real conviction. |
