I also wouldn't want my country (America) to become a religious fundamentalist state. But, I don't see Muslims as any threat at all. They are as weak a political group as one can find, even weaker than blacks. The threat of religious fundamentalism in America is almost entirely from Christians, as it has since the days of the zealous Puritans. I look at the current administration, and it seems to be going out of its way to cowtow to the Christian Right, and to offend Muslims. That is a good indicator of the current environment.
