I agree with you on the need to handle micro-payments. There is something called PayPal that already exists, but I have never used it.

But as far as your version of "fair" prices for software, you have no clue about what it takes to develop and maintain software. Your communist style cap on prices would completely wipe out the software industry, and hardware as well, since there is no point in buying computers if nobody is writing any software for them.

Do you have a philosophical problem with the concept of profit? When you take on a risk do develop software that you may never finish, or that nobody may ever buy, there needs to be a huge reward to those few who succeed, in order to entice new entrepreneurs to try and come up with new ideas. If you eliminate the reward, there is no point in taking the risk.
