Autodesk Blows by Q4 Estimates, Warns on Q1, Ups 2003

Boston, Feb 21, 2002 (MidnightTrader via COMTEX) -- Autodesk, Inc. (ADSK) tonight announced Q4 earnings with net revenue of $254 million, up from $243 million reported a year ago. Net income was $37 million, or $0.65 per share, compared to $32 million, or $0.57 per share for the same quarter a year ago. Analysts expected the company to earn $0.55 per share on revenue of $253 million, according to First Call.
Looking forward, the company expects net revenue for the first quarter of fiscal year 2003 between $240 million and $250 million and FY 2003 revenue between $1.025 billion and $1.045 billion. For Q1, the company expects pro forma earnings to range between $0.40 and $0.50 per share, and a range between $2.20 and $2.30 for the full year. Analysts are expecting Q1 EPS at $0.52 per share, and full year EPS at $2.16.

Autodesk also announced its intention to acquire Revit Technology Corp., a Massachusetts-based developer of parametric building technology for building design, construction, and management, for $133 million cash. The stock is currently halted. Last Island quote below.
