Semitool Files Patent Suit Against Tokyo Electron WASHINGTON (Dow Jones) Semitool Inc. (SMTL) filed a lawsuit alleging patent infringement against Tokyo Electron Ltd. (J.TKE), according to Semitool's quarterly report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The lawsuit, filed Jan. 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California , alleges infringement of Semitool's patent relating to the centrifugal cleaning and processing of semiconductor wafers. The suit seeks injunctive relief, damages for past infringement and increased damages for willful infringement, according to the filing last Friday. Semitool said Tokyo Electron hasn't yet answered the complaint. Tokyo Electron, Japan . manufactures chip-making equipment. Semitool, Kalispell, Mont., make equipment used to manufacture semiconductors.
