"what is your setup for shorting based on intermarket relationships?"

Just simple setups such as: SP sell stop at the low yesterday if the US made a lower low yesterday.

"most of the stuff that i have seen works best to go long just like you stated."

I've been thinking about this today and last night. I used the full SP data 1982 to present to backtesting. This has been a massive bull market for most of the period. So shorts will not do too well during this time. Perhaps I should limit the data set to the last 5 or so years, where the market went down for a change.

"wrapping up some trades for the week and i think i will call it a day."

Hope you had a good week.

"what software do you use for testing?"

Just some simple codes I wrote in Java and C. I feel there is no need to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on commercial software for simple backtesting.
