Acquisition Description The Family of Advanced Beyond Line-of-Sight Terminals (FAB-T) program will develop and field a common-design, cost-effective, beyond-line-of-sight terminal providing high-capacity communications to support command and control (C2) networks, intelligence dissemination, mission data, and target/threat updates. The FAB-T design is envisioned to capitalize on a layered, open architecture and to minimize the number of platform-unique components to support further development spirals in a family of terminals concept. The FAB-T program will: · Provide backward compatibility to existing EHF LDR, MDR communications, as well as provide new Advanced EHF (AEHF) XDR SATCOM communications in support of strategic and non-strategic nuclear operational requirements. The FAB-T will provide the assured, protected, highly survivable communications demanded by the NCA and the strategic nuclear forces, ensuring compatibility with evolving satellite architectures and legacy Milstar EHF LDR and MDR communications · The Airborne Wideband Terminal (AWT) portion of the FAB-T program will equip airborne platforms with high-capacity EHF LDR, MDR, and AEHF XDR satellite communications. The terminals will support existing and emerging requirements to exchange mission information between ground and airborne elements of the Theater Air Control system, including: off-loading near real time sensor information, receiving ATOs and ATO updates, transmitting/receiving imagery, targeting, weather, threat updates, and mission status/assessments · The Command Post Terminal Replacement (CPTR) portion of the FAB-T will add MDR and AEHF capability to existing airborne, ground-fixed, and ground-transportable command post terminals that were fielded as part of the Milstar program. · Provide potential to evolve to meet other emerging DoD beyond-line-of-sight communication needs. |
