shlomi, here is a good article on competing technologies,sort of simple but long. It seems to me that the more fiber in the loop the less chance for ADSL. There is a good article on HDSL2 in internettelephony.com ,only uses one pair of twisted copper. It seems to me if I were installing a new infrastructure,I would go with HFC. Both HFC and ADSL are dedicated systems,and ADSL is not interoperable as of now. I think ORCTF is a company to watch very closely,as is Netspeed(their system allows more than one person on each ADSL link).

Well it looks like I will stick with Israeli research based companies, HLIT and ORCTF in telecommunications.
