Note that your label says 1902 - 1945, but you have data points at 1900 and 1946.

FWIW, it would look quite different if expressed in terms of gold. Starting in 1934, divide all results by 1.693.

Also, the range is large enough that you might want to consider a logarithmic vertical axis to keep the fluctuations meaningfully compatible.
