Snowshoe, found wealth is transient. As Prudhoe Bay dries up, the Alaskans will want to move to another state to provide them the living to which they've become accustomed [I'm not aware of one]. I don't think created-wealth economies should try to copy the Saudi Arabian or Alaskan forms of economic progress - they have a use-by date.

Alaskans would be wise to sell the oil in the futures market, grab their loot now and run for the warmer climates. There's no need to hang around there to get the money.

That's the great thing about debt; get the money today and stop the deadbeat future generations from getting their paws on it.
