David,

<< Anyone know how much of the U.S. is using 1900Hz GSM? >>

Currently all GSM in North America is 1900Hz.

There were 13.5 million North America GSM subs at the end of December. There are about 20 GSM networks in North America and now about the same number in Latin America (3.5 million subs).

VoiceStream and Microcell Fido are of Course 100% 1900 MHz.

AWS is building out GSM in their 1900Hz spectrum as is Rogers.

Current Cingular GSM is all 1900 MHz. They have just started to deploy in 850 MHz, but no 850/1900 MHz handsets are yet available.

Telecel in Mexico will deploy in 850 & 1900 MHz.
