As far as I can remember, during bull phases, a single day of a NYSE tic of -1000 was a sure fire signal for the "dipsters" to jump back in, and they were right as long as the major bull trend remained intact. During bear phases, however, a plurality of very extreme readings (often more than 1250) was required to signal a local reversal. The funny thing is that a plus 1000 tic, is not as good a signal for a local top, sometimes it works some times it does not.
