I gone back to the original post and done some quick calculations. I now find that the Boeing jet liners had about 50X the kinetic energy then the B-25J Mitchell going into the Empire State. Then there is the energy of the fire (6X) It's amazing they stood up at all! Agree that fire regs need review though. May be Asbestos needs a better technical review. Lots of B/S in the press, agree on that too.
