That option was added to IH yesterday. Gives you choices for the time frames for the refresh and an option to turn it off.
In fairness to John and SI, it's really just the difference between a small, nimble operation and a large operation that has so much momentum (even "motionless" is a kind of momentum) that changes just can't/won't happen quickly.
So, in IH's favor you have my ability to make changes on a whim, and make them in no time at all, without having to ask a committee for permission or submit changes to a lengthy Q/A process. Or being forced to make changes by committees who don't really understand the product or the customers.
But, in SI's favor, you've got the fact that bugs like I have in my Preview/Spellcheck process are less likely to evade detection before being put into production.
Speaking of which, I just used SI's Preview feature for the first time in ages. Whoa! Kinda slow, eh? I don't know the size of the dictionary here, but doubt it's larger than the 250k word one I'm using. And my Preview is *identical* to what the post will look like when submitted, down to the box around it, the colors, the word-wrap, and any graphics that might be included in it.
But it ain't all peaches and cream. Currently, if you Preview a post on IH, then click the Edit button, it might just be gone. A real nasty bug. One it's taking me quite a while to fix. |
