BTW, ultrawide band has been around for years. What I saw of the aps year ago it is somewhat limited and short range

I haven't followed the technology closely, except that my understanding is it is really best for very short range such as around an office or house, close range mobile anti collision detection, etc. It just isn't the technology for broadcast, or for cell phone networks.

Google has recently put online (all?) the Deja News archives, going back to at least 1990 timeframe. You can find discussions on UWB (as well as very early and confident "it'll never work" discussions on CDMA by the "experts" :-) Deja never seemed to have enough storage to keep all the archives, so they kept moving earlier stuff offline, now that Google has made it available, it's a great resource.
