What it got me wondering was what they are doing with all those 9mm handguns they bought 10 years ago to replace their 45s with. Maybe something has happened since then that I'm not aware of, I don't follow military handgun issues much. Since almost no one gets hurt with them in wartime it seems like not such a big deal. I bet more soldiers (mostly officers, I suppose) end up with self inflicted gunshot wounds (accident or suicide) from the things than the enemy ends up with casualties. We'd be net positive with the damn things if they didn't issue ammunition for them.

P.S. Yes, I am aware of the hero who captured a German company while on recon in WW1 with only his 45. But that's the exception.
