Ray, I am from California, I was there when the energy mess happened, made some money selling new doublepane windows and A/C to people who upgraded just before I moved to Waikiki.
The energy mess was caused by Politicians and Regulators in California who think like you, and they screwed the Utilities in an attempt to make sure they could not make money. Of course the Energy companies were out to make a buck. But the Idiots in the California Government who "Deregulated" the Industry did it is such a way that it was not deregulated, just hamstrung.
They would not allow the utilities to sign long term contracts for energy, and forced them into the debacle that bankrupted them. Don't blame the power companies for selling at the max price they could get.
When we get involved in a foreign action that protects our own selfish interest, such as Kuwait or Columbia, you are against it. It seems the only wars you want us to get involved with are ones where we have no real interest, like Lebanon, Somalia, and the Balkans. |
