Why so quiet around here?

There is a very bullish article in this week's Barrons about the future of 'net commerce.

Putting aside all of the day to day price gyrations, and Q to Q worries, there is an
unmistakable and unstoppable trend in progress that will make the "net" a totally
routine and indispensable part of the way we all live and do business.

I hold CSCO and ASND as key builders of the net, and FDC as one of the key
developers of electronic commerce. I think their recent alliance with MSFT is a very bullish development.

But what other companies are uniquely positioned to benefit from the net?

Maybe ORCL, as provider of the databases that will hold all of the "stuff" we will
access?

Certainly MSFT.

Maybe some of the companies that will sell their products on the net?

Personally, I do not have a lot of enthusiasm for these companies, (AMZN/BKS) etc.

To me, it seems like selling on the net will not be much different from the selling and
competition that any retailer faces. The only difference is the real estate; "real" vs
"electonic real estate". The winners will be those companies that develop the electronic
real estate and not those who hold the leases.

Ideas?
