actually, they'll probably be fifth buckey. Russia will likely win some medals in the 30k woman's x-country skiing.

all the same, it has been a very good olympics for canada. I don't agree with the measure of medals won as improvement in the olympics. It assumes that the other countries stand still while canada improves against them.

I think the true measure is keeping consistent improvement in the areas where we were currently strong but where the rest of the world is catching up (hockey, curling, speed skating, short track, free style) all the while improving in areas where we have had little success (in these olympics - x-country skiing(becky scott), the distance disciplines in speed skating (3 women in the top 10 in the 5000, GS alpine (7th women))

We are doing just fine. Medals always involved luck, but having as many athletes in positions to win medals as we did this year requires more. Nobody can doubt austria's skiiers, but the sheer number of 4th, 5th and 6th's that they had this year is unbelievable. It happens. Again... ask sweden (shut out in x-country and men's hockey. nightmare olympics for them)

enjoy the game today buckey.
