Peter,

<< Who has the lead in WCDMA asic development? >>

I don't have a clue.

I am not exactly sure who is sourcing NEC, Matsushita, and Mitsubishi, who are first out the door with single mode right now and I'm not sure to what degree they are developing themselves or in conjunction with IC manufacturers.

In addition to NEC, ... Nokia, and Sony Ericsson are the two manufacturers who have publicly committed to having dual-mode handsets commercially available in H2 02, and I guess Motorola's statements could be construed to promise commercially available handsets in the same time frame.

I don't think that there is much doubt that both Nokia and Sony Ericsson have working prototypes and probably reference designs on networks that are currently live and testing. If they don't then not much testing is going on and it is going to be darned hard for them to deliver H2.

I am assuming that Nokia's SOC's are developed in conjunction with TI and same for Sony Ericsson, but Sony Ericsson may be working multiple sources.

I didn't pay all that much attention to Prariecomm's and Tropian's announcements last week or where IBM, Infineon, or STM are at.
