The film, Kandahar, is depressing. Still, I'd see it if you have the chance. Yes, the ordinary people
in Afghanistan fight for survival every day. Seattle's street people have a better life, I
imagine.

Now, that we have gotten rid of the Taliban, I read that Afghanistan has reverted to its
old ways: growing poppies for heroin export, feuds between the war lords who like to rape
young boys, although I read that the sexual liaison between older men and young boys is
quite common.

Did you watch the Olympics? I am going to watch the closing ceremonies!
