If he doesn't mention nukes, I don't consider that an attack. Well, all right, then, we'll solve this whole matter by nuking the Christians! :-)
As for what you did "wrong," well, nothing, except lose sight of the turnips. Was this a serious discussion? I thought I was on the Joke thread?
As for what provoked my rebuttals, JC said the US was like Saudi Arabia And then there's that minor Constiutional problem. I suppose we could repeal the 1st Amendment to make JC happy, though.
Basically, I would agree with you. (Doesn't that scare you?) The fact that there is a religion that has a majority of the population claiming to be members does not make this a theocracy - or anything close to one. There are specific legal bars against it becoming a theocracy.
And when you get down to it, some Christians are always claiming others are not. Are Mormons Christian? Some who claim to be Christian say no? Some say Catholics are not REALLY Christian because they engage in "idolatry". And Catholics are such a large group that if they are thrown out, then this is not a Christian nation in any sense whatsoever.
And as Neocon pointed out, maybe you need a test on religion to determine who is and is not a Christian. Given the level of ignorance on other subjects among the general populace in this country, we would undoubtedly find that in fact we are a nation of ignoramusses! |
