You are a good example of the difficulty of making authoritative criteria.(Sorry for the typo, I usually do it correctly). I will only say that most denominations accept the Apostles' Creed, and that it seems to me to be the most authoritative summary of what is alleged in the New Testament. Besides, the early church presumably had the right to determine the criterion for membership, and this creed seems to have defined Christian belief for the existing Church pretty early.........
