Right now there's a big compatability gap between UNIX and NT. However, a small company called "Network Appliance" symbol NTAP, which makes NFS file servers has announced NT file system (SMB) support in september. This will allow both a unix station and NT client to access the same file via NFS and SMB.

Microsoft is working with NTAP, because they see this as the tool that will bridge UNIX nad NT at file level and provide the inroads into the UNIX market.
