Merrill Lynch portfolio manager Paul Meeks left the firm earlier this week. Meeks, who had managed the Global Technology Fund, is the sixth portfolio manager to leave Merrill since September. Several managers had opted to take severance packages offered by the firm as part of a broad restructuring plan. Meeks’ motives for leaving the firm could not be determined.

"In the long-term, it's very rare for one company to have such a proprietary lock on the technology and QualComm has that with CDMA technology," he said. "It's all patented. And so I like it long-term. I think it can go from $45 to $60, $65. Under $45, it becomes particularly compelling -- but be careful of the current quarter."
