"Jelly beans are non- denominational......

Excellent example. I'm going to buy some the next time I am at the store and share them with good friends. What color do you like btw...I'll save you some.

However, on March 31, I will not be encouraging children to grab a basket and hunt for eggs. I have two reasons for this. 1) It plants a fantasy seed in their little minds that later becomes "religion is a fairy tale myth." 2) It is an attempt to validate a religious world view that I do not hold. In the same sense, when I am an invited guest at a function and someone says "here, just hold this drink and pretend to be an alcohol drinker to fit in" I beg out. Being a teetotaler is a simple and largely private choice. Others can drink alcohol to the extent that it is culturally acceptable without my comment. At the point where, I or my children are pressed to "fit in," there is cause for a less than positive reaction from me.

The point is, when validation becomes a reason to participate in Easter or a drinking party, I will stay home.
