On 27 November, State Department spokesman Richard Boucher confirmed that the administration intended to go ahead with the Harpoon II deal. However, bipartisan congressional opposition to the deal is mounting as some key legislators echo Israeli defence officials' claims that providing such sophisticated technology to Egypt would erode Israel's qualitative edge. >>
