If you use a really powerful antenna you can send it from here to eternity! It all depends on the juice. Not to also forget that it goes really fast too. Whatever that may do to help. After all, if it only goes so far because of your short transmitter, at least it gets there in a hurry.

P.S. I just reread your message, I really like the mountaintop idea. I am sure you have heard the one about 'shout it from the mountaintop', but have you tried semaphore, that's where you wave flags, like we just saw in Salt Lake? Anyway, that will work from a mountaintop as far as the eye can see, (as an aside, have you ever looked up at night and wondered how far you could see? I don't mean in town, I mean like far away out of town, anyway I saw that the article mentioned that the radio telescopes might get screwed up, but like who would really care, nobody cares that they leave all their lights on at night, so nobody can see stuff that they used to see long ago when it was dark at night, you could see much farther, even to distant galaxies, think about that for a minute) and plus it goes fast too even as much as fast as some say it is possible to go, according to a Mr. Albert A. Einstein, famous American. What if you went to the mountaintop late at night where it was really dark and waved your flag? Or maybe you might want to do it in the light of day, so everybody could see? Would this solve the 'last mile' problem? We could all live on top of the mountain. Isn't that where you want to be?
I would really appreciate an answer to these questions as they are things I have been pondering for quite some time. Not to be disrespectful, but please do not just give me that crock BS, I know you can do better than that.
