John, I think the whole VUI thing is weaker than I imagined three years ago. IVR guys will pick up the grunt work of implementations and IBM and other biggies will pick up the brain work in ASR and TTS. Perhaps Speechworks or Nuance will sneak through but their valuations even now are not low on a P/S metric.

I have had Onstar now for two weeks in a new CTS, and it is fine in some respects; but I cannot imagine paying $0.45 for the rather useless content on VA. The unified mailbox features are not even close to what Portico provided. I assume they dumbed it down because of noise interference. The vocabulary is very small. A think a major reengineering for noise or safety (liability) reasons may have caused the delay and NOC minutes per Onstar subscriber must be well below original estimates.
