Hi marcos,
Interesting story...
We all have stories, I'd wager... One of my favorites is this guy I used to work with a long time ago. The guy is a major butthead, the kind of personality that even his mother wouldn't stomach... He'd ride my butt all the time about not buying into Qualcomm and Amazon and any of the other high-fliers back about 2 or 3 years ago... He was into all of them, and to be honest, he was up megabucks... I don't know exactly what he was worth, but my guess would be in the low 7 figures, maybe about $1.25M (US). Even when the market was collapsing, he (rumored) bought more. He doesn't ride me anymore. I've heard other friends say that he stashed what was left in various mutual funds. But you know that I'm just dying to run into him so that I can "innocently" ask "How's yer stocks doing, Jack?"... I know he lost a bunch on QCOM. because he was a big buyer when that analyst predicted that QCOM was going to $1K (per share) from around $250 (per share) at the time of the brash prediction. <chuckle> <chortle> Serve's him right for not diversifying... To paraphrase, "All tech and no (value) play makes Jack a poor boy!"... I have no idea what remains of his former fortune, but knowing him, it had to be excruciatingly painful before he threw in the towel... So much for his dream villa in France (or somewhere in Europe)... For some reason, he probably doesn't want to talk about it... Can't imagine why though... Maybe he's avoiding me... I've suffered losses like everyone else (Lucent and Cisco, just to name 2), but overall I didn't bet the farm on any one sector or any one stock... After his dog, diversification is man's best friend... <g>
The cdnx is successor to the Vancouver exchange
Do I have my exchanges mixed up? I thought that the CDNX was the home of many of the Canadian scam stocks that didn't trade on the Vancouver Exchange or the Alberta Exchange. In other words, the CDNX existed long before Vancouver and Alberta merged. In the dim recesses of my memory, I distinctly recall reading an extensive article, maybe about 4 or 5 years old now, about the scamminess of this exchange in Canada, where virtually every stock was beyond dubious, and I would have sworn the name of the exchange was the Canadian Exchange. I'd swear that the writer compared the exchange to the "worst of the worst to be found in both the OTC-BB and Pink Sheets". I also seem to recall something about "dealers" or something to that effect, which I believe referred to the brokerages that palmed this garbage off on unsuspecting and unsophisticated investors... Maybe I've mixed up exchanges or something???
