To Thread:

Tried to finish off my purchase of 5000 shares in after hours.Scottrade waits till 4:30 before you can trade - during that time the bid ask had changed twice:
23.80 - 24.19
23.70 - 24.35

strange how the bid dropped and the ask rose ??? lack of liquidity I guess.

Trying to buy @ 24.05 - zip after trying about 20 minutes
Trying to buy @ 24.10 - zip after trying about 20 minutes
Trying to buy @ 24.35 - zip after waiting about 10 minutes - this surprised me as it was the ask at the close.

So then I started stabbing at a price - I had four lots of 100 @ 24.50 and a lot of 300 and 200 also at 24.50.Total 900 @24.50.By the time after hours was over my order for 1000 shares left 100 not filled and the bid was 20.54 and the ask was 24.90.Dagburngoshdarnlouseyexecutionblahblahblah

I know it's an illiquid market, and I've also seen Cohu pop up on a breakout before - so I took a lesson on after hours with Cohu.

This morning's trading will prove my hunch right or wrong.

I do know I've waited a long time for this breakout to occur.Yesterday's volume of 150,000 shares was a nice percentage increase over its past daily average (+ 65% over average / IBD).

I'm surprised how quickly the breakout occurred towards the end of yesterdays trading. It cranked up over my, now aged note, on my computer that says Cohu pivot point is 23.55 plus .12 = 23.67.

So that's the set up I've been waiting for and I'm stickin to my game plan.Had to execute or I'd never forgive myself.

I've got to tell you however, this ole bottom feeder is a whole lot more comfortable buying Cohu in the 13's and loving the valuethan I am paying 24 and change. ERGG

This is an a ttempt to utilize IBD's concept of buying movers on breakouts after a successful pattern. In this case Cohu has completed a classic "cup and handle".

The handle dropped down on low volume - with the exception of days that featured quiet trading marked with large blocks that were never shown in the bid/ask detail size reports. I view this as block trade desk action and the realm of institutions trying to stay transparent.I think that is one of the most important pieces of the puzzle.

I think this is occurring because the backend segment of semi equip companies is now viewed as the sweet spot.

Klics announcement of 200 new technology bonders to AMKOR probably means more testhandlers out there for Cohu's pick and place testhandlers.

Cohu,Klic, and Asyt all had nice moves yesterday. These mid/small caps also moved in concert with the big boys:Amat,Nvls, and Intel which put in a clasic turnaround from friday.

The NAZ has also put in a classic morningstar Doji (friday) and Nice white candle yesterday. Some say we need more volume , but it is a market of stocks and Cohu put in 165% of its average - so that looks good too.

Perhaps last, but not least Cohu's chart is featured on page B8 of IBD this morning and it looks very pretty as a breakout stock.

So that's today's lead up to what should be a strong breakout continuation today. I got lucky at the close yesterday and caught it with about 20 trading minutes left.

The set up is about as perfect as it can get. No one ever has anything for sure - but this looks classic enough to buy at a higher level and still be a low risk entry point - if there is such a thing.gg

Supply and Demand will do the rest. One thing for sure I do know - so far supply was/is hard to come by.

LET"S CRANK !!!

Hope this recap helps others decide on how to make money on this little favorite of mine.
