I had a friend who put himself through college on his Federal Firearms License, selling pistols and rifles. 21 years old and an arms dealer... :0)

My impression, Hawk, is that guns are forbidden on almost all college campuses. I know on the campuses on which I taught over the years, they were.

The last place I taught was in the middle of heavy deer hunting country. So even though most students were suburban kids, there were enough from the immediate surrounds that a compromised was reached in which students could bring their guns but had to put them under lock and key with the campus security. Could take them out only with clear evidence they were going hunting. They were expelled for violating the rule.

This, of course, is another illustration of the strange argument that you can carry a gun anywhere you wish. I don't see students walking into classrooms with guns; nor do I see them holding a gun while they argue with faculty members about their grades.

A couple of years ago I visited one of the more successful innovative public schools in NYC. They had a zero tolerance policy for weapons of any kind--knives, guns, whatever. If a student was caught with them in the building, they were expelled. Not punished as in given a two week suspension. They were expelled.
