long side always went down and short side went up. <NG>

Yep, I agree that can happen, and thank you for that point.

Sort of thing could happen... Semis tank and AMAT buys out Lam Research for X2. Actually, I am not too badly positioned for that scenario by being long gold miners plus cash and a few poots.

Also LRCX is an equipment manufacturer that sells to the likes of NSM and ADI. If LRCX is doing well then ADI and NSM will be doing well too.

I think it is almost a given that military electronics should do well in the near future. Military parts are typically older technology, on equipment Lam Research typically no longer maintains. I like NSM as it has good connections to military market, like ADI cause it is a small but efficient company in the military biz. I expect the share price of all to still depreciate if the market tanks, I'll pick it up on the LRCX short on that point and stay long NSM and ADI.

Still got a good cash position. Saw the short squeeze on RMBS (as an observer fortunately), so I know how bad that can be. I've been thinking about this for awhile and happy with it. Sure it might screw up, I let you know how it goes.
