SACRAMENTO (Reuters) - A California lawmaker has introduced legislation to put a $576 million toilet bond on the November ballot aimed at financing local water recycling and dual plumbing projects.

Democratic Assemblywoman Jackie Goldberg introduced a bill Friday that would create new water supplies, treat ground water and bring waste discharges into compliance with state and federal standards.

"It's time to commit this state to an aggressive, smart- water program of using recycled water in toilet flushing in commercial buildings," Goldberg said in a statement.

The general obligation bond measure also includes $200 million for new projects of dual plumbing for toilet flushing, fire suppression and outdoor landscaping.
