Dear Michael:
System testing is done on two levels- for a given stock- which systems work best and secondly for a database of stocks- which systems work best. I usually test a system on a selection of stocks. Recently for example I used a population of 520 stocks and compared various systems and then variants on one system- I logged the results and compared.

Then the true crucible is in the use. Does it work in real life? System tests allow you to throw out the weaker indicators and maintain the reliable ones. If it works better than a know indicator such as dahl crossing zero on a population of 500, then it has some merit.

I hope that was the question Mr. Mike with 24 hours of sun.
