Did Ken Lay and Skilling sell all their shares before Enron went bust? Probably not. They didn't need to. Same for any high net worth insider in any other company. If something bad happens, they can plead, "Look, I had a lot of shares left unsold. Would I have left any on the table if I knew what was going on?" etc.

It is amazing what kind of excuses people make up to justify holding their duds!
