SiberCore Announces Co-Processor Solutions for the New Intel(R) IXP2400 and IXP2800 Network Processors; Packet Forwarding and Classification Co-Processor Support for Intel Network Processors
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM)--SiberCore Technologies, a leader in providing silicon-based packet management solutions today announced its roadmap for providing support for Intel's Network Processor family, including the new Intel® IXP2400 and IXP2800 Network Processors. The first product SiberCore is introducing is a SiberBridge to interoperate with the Intel® IXP1200 Network Processor family. The SiberBridge solution provides an FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) based interface between SiberCore's SiberCAM Ultra-2M / Ultra-9M product families and the memory interface on the Intel IXP1200 network processors. Future SiberBridge solutions will also be made available for the IXP2400 and IXP2800 Network Processors. The FPGA implementation of the SiberBridge allows customers to use the solution as it is shipped from SiberCore or customers can optimize the FPGA programming to suit their specific requirements.
Glueless connectivity will be available later in 2002 when SiberCore will introduce an integrated device compatible with the IXP1200, IXP2400 and IXP2800 Network Processor interfaces, helping to ensure glueless operation of SiberCore products with the entire Intel Network Processor family. The SiberBridge software drivers are fully compatible with these future SiberCore integrated products that will offer glueless connectivity to the IXP2400 and IXP2800 Network Processors, thus providing designers an easy migration path in their OC-48, OC-192, Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet networking equipment designs.
SiberCore's packet management co-processor solutions provide customers options in extending the search functionality required in some advanced services applications. This provides network equipment developers with a compelling, off-the-shelf solution that delivers top performance while enabling the flexibility required to address emerging standards and evolving network needs. This dramatically reduces the time-to-market and extends the time-in-market for networking OEMs, in contrast with internal development efforts typically based on custom ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuits).
``SiberCore is offering new options that are compatible with our network processors and helping equipment makers cut costs and time to market,'' said Doug Davis, general manager of the Intel Network Processor Division.
``SiberCore is seeing a growing acceptance of and demand for standard product network processors in the marketplace.'' said Graham Allan, SiberCore's Director of Marketing. ``Our customers are demanding solutions providing closer coupling between our advance co-processor solutions and leading network processors. We have had success interfacing with the IXP1200 product family and look forward to extending that support to Intel's new IXP2800 and IXP2400 Network Processors''.
SiberCore is a participating member of the Intel® Internet Exchange Architecture (Intel® IXA) Developers Network. SiberCore's collaboration with Intel and the Intel IXA Developers Network will help ensure that Intel Network Processor customers have access to the industry's leading packet forwarding and classification co-processor solutions.
SiberCore Packet Management Solutions
The SiberCAM is a large capacity packet forwarding and classification co-processor, based on SiberCore's award-winning Ternary Content Addressable Memory (TCAM) technology. SiberCAM network co-processors significantly increase switch and router throughput extending network processing headroom for advanced services. In addition, the SiberCAM's unique 3-port interface allows equipment developers to perform routing and policy table management without impacting the search process, providing for sustained performance at up to 100 million searches per second (MSPS).
The SiberBridge provides an FPGA interface between the memory interface on the Intel network processor and the interface of the SiberCAM family. It includes an optional associated data SRAM interface. The complete SiberBridge design package includes the Verilog source code, FPGA constraint files and documentation.
The SiberBridge for the Intel IXP1200 Network Processor family is available and shipping today. The SiberBridge solution for the IXP2400 and IXP2800 Network Processors will be available in May, 2002.
About SiberCore Technologies
SiberCore Technologies is a fabless communications semiconductor company providing silicon-based packet management products and solutions to the Internet infrastructure market. The Company's initial products are packet forwarding engines, based on Ternary Content Addressable Memory (TCAM) technology, that are designed to overcome the most onerous performance bottlenecks in the data communications market - packet forwarding and classification. SiberCore's unique architectural and design innovations give the SiberCAM family of products significant advantages in terms of capacity, speed, feature set and power reduction. SiberCore is located in Ottawa, Canada's high technology capital. The company's web site is located at www.sibercore.com.
