They would want to soften some of the comments about our European allies or make them more indirect.

Funny you should say that. I think we'd be better off if the Administration made Hanson's points just as he did. They were straight, sincere, and friendly, even if the message would be difficult to hear, and had a logical rationale. That's better than the off-handed dissing that they get now.

I was among those surprised at the quality of Bush's major speeches. I've said so before. He has a super speech writer. I still cringe whenever he speaks on his own and I use the mute button a lot because I'm so embarrassed for him. I know you Republicans love your boyz, but I shudder a lot when they speak--which is not the same thing as disagreeing with what they do, you understand. Perhaps my reaction goes along with my distaste for country music. <g>

Regarding Rummy, I hang around the house most days and the news is on TV in the background so I get to see and hear a lot of him. He's on at lunch time every day. I understand why the media like him. He gives them plenty of material and make their jobs more fun. I like the way he doesn't take himself too seriously and he speaks more freely than we're used to. I just don't like some of the things he says. I see a flip disrespect for human life and for the concerns of others. I see eye rolls and sneers that I think are inappropriate. He doesn't come across as someone I would like to have for a next door neighbor or even want to know. I understand why he play well to some crowds.

P.S. And Ascroft makes me want to throw things. The rest of them are OK.
