Well, the problem I would have is that Buddha is dead and Christ is risen and alive.
The mind is a powerful tool. Our belief becomes our identity. If you read Buddha and believe in what Buddha says, you become a Buddhist. I have great respect for anyone who adopts their philosophy. It is an admirable life.
However, with Christianity, it is not only the belief that transforms you, but the inner workings of the Holy Spirit. Not only do I saturate myself with Christ's words, but at the same time, I put on the new self, which IS Christ. I don't need to think "what would Jesus do". Instead, I act and that IS what Jesus would do. If I question my actions I go to the source, which is God's word to see if my actions line up. But, what I do is done in faith that it is not I who do it, but Christ in me. That is where the word Christian was coined from. Those who saw the early apostles saw Christ in them. So they said "The Lord is There." From that we get Christianity, or "one with Christ". So, there is a big difference between Christianity and Buddhism. |
